My dear blog friend, whom I met in Istanbul face to face, Hans has tagged me. The subject is 7 facts about me. Since we communicate in English with him, I have to answer this in English. Here we go:

1. Although my name is Esra, for my whole life most of the people remember (and call me) my maden name - Seker which means Sugar (or candy) in turkish. Do I like it? Dunno. I think I would prefer them to call me just "Esra".

2. I was born and grew up in Istanbul. Now I'm living in Neuchatel, Switzerland; visited hundreds of cities except the little historical city in Greece where my grandgrandfather's statue is located in the center. I am so curious to visit my grandfather's birth place, Yanya (Ioannina). Is the statue still there... I really don't know!

3. When I was little, I wanted to be a space engineer. A friend of my father was one of them and he was working for NASA. As a space-lover, I thought I found my "dream job". But when it was the real time to choose my future job, I was more realistic. I chose to be an architect. Now I'm happy with my chose. Fortunately. :-)

4. I am married to a Swiss + Italian guy who is soooo cute, sooooo sweet, sooooo lovely and sooooo understanding. (pisst, he is reading this post ;-) ) I hate when people ask me "how we met", "why I am married to a non-Turkish man", "what will be the religion of our daughter" and "if we want a second child". I wanna SHOUUUTTT when I hear those questions. You may read my article about that (in Turkish).

5. My master thesis subject was "Total Quality Management in Construction Industry". I loved the subject and wanted to continue to PHD. My professors were so enthusiastic to see me writing a PHD thesis about TQM. However, too many changes in my life turned my way from a "perfect student" to a "perfect housewife and perfect mother". There was an advertisement in Turkey a few years ago where a woman was saying "I can make both career and baby". I do not believe in that. You have to chose one way or the other. Career or a baby. And my chose is obvious. Happy? DEFINITELY!

6. I have a too high colesterol level in my blood. Each time I make a test, I go in a depression. The "risk level" is 200 and mine is usually around 260. Once it was 400. Even the biologist at the laboratory was shocked when she saw the result. Whatever I do, it doesn't go down. Future coronary heart disease patient!

7. Everything in my life depends on number 7. My birthday, my daughter's birthday (read how I I was surprised that my daughter was coming on 6th! But than she came on 7th!), my school numbers, my house numbers, even my table numbers at the restaurants. Anything... Sometimes I play on 7, 17, 27, 14 (2x7) or 21 (3x7) on any lottery and I win! So now have been tagged for 7 facts... not surprising.

so now I have to tag new people... hmmm... ok... Muzi is the one!

Istanbul'da yuz yuze de tanistigim sevgili blog arkadasim Hans beni sobelemis. Konu ise "benim hakkimdaki 7 gercek". Hans'la Ingilizce anlastigimiz icin bu yaziyi da Ingilizce yazdim ama iste burada Turkcesini de okuyabilirsiniz. Iste basliyoruz:

1. Adim Esra olmasina ragmen, bircok kisi benim soyadimi hatirlar ve beni oyle cagirir - Seker. Bundan hoslaniyor muyum? Bilmiyorum. Sanirim sadece Esra denmesini tercih ederdim.

2. Istanbul'da dogup buyudum, simdi Neuchatel'de (Isvicre) oturuyorum. Yuzlerce sehir gezdim; ortasinda buyuk buyuk dedemin heykelinin oldugu kucuk tarihi Yunanistan sehri disinda. Dedemin dogdugu Yanya sehrini cok merak ediyorum. Yakin zamanda oraya bir gezi duzenlemek istiyorum. Tabi hala heykel duruyor mu... bilemem!

3. Kucukken uzay muhendisi olmak istiyordum. Babamin bir arkadasi uzay muhendisiydi ve NASA'da calisiyordu. Bunu duydugumda, bir uzay asigi olarak, hayatimin meslegini buldugumu dusundum. Ancak is gercekten meslek secmeye geldiginde, daha "gercekci" oldum ve mimarligi sectim. Simdi bu secimiminden cok memnunum. Allahtan. :-)

4. Bir Italyan + Isvicreli ile evliyim. Kendisi cooook tatli, cooook iyi, cooook anlayislidir. (shhhiii, bu yaziyi kesin okuyordur! :-) ). Insanlarin "nasil tanistiniz", "neden bir Turkle evlenmedin", "cocugunuzun dini ne olacak", "ikinci cocuk istiyor musunuz" sorularindan nefret ediyorum. Cevap vermekten gercekten yoruldum. Ciglikkkk atmak istiyorum!

5. Master tez konum "Toplam Kalite Yonetiminin Insaat Sektorunde Uygulanmasi" idi ve bu konuya resmen asiktim. Ayni konuda doktora da yapmak istiyordum ve profesorlerim de bu konuda beni cok destekliyordu. Ancak hayat beni "mukemmel ogrenciden" "mukemmel ev kadini ve anneye" donusturdu. Birkac sene once televizyonda bir reklam vardi, cogunuz hatirlarsiniz "cocuk da yaparim kariyer de". Iste ben, buna inanmiyorum. Birini ya da digerini secmek gerektigini dusunuyorum. Ikisini de ayni anda mukemmel yapmak mumkun degil. Benim secimim ortada. Mutlu muyum? KESINLIKLE!

6. Uzun zamandir kanimdaki kolesterol cok yuksek. Her test yapisimda aldigim sonuctan dolayi depresyona giriyorum. Risk siniri 200 olmasina ragmen benimkisi 260 civarinda seyrediyor. Hatta bir keresinde 400'u bile gordu. Laborantin gozleri yerinden cikiyordu, sonucu bana verirken. Ne yaparsam yapayim dusuremiyorum. Gelecegin potansiyel kalp hastasi!

7. Hayatimdaki hersey 7 uzerine kuruludur. Dogumgunum, kizimin dogumgunu (6sinda gelme ihtimaline ne kadar sasirdigimi ve sonunda 7sinde geldigini okuyun), okul numaralarim, kapi numaralarim, hatta restoranlarda oturdugum masa numaralarim. Hersey... Bazen lotoda 7, 17, 27, 14 (2x7) veya 21 (3x7) numaralarini oynarim ve kesinlikle kazanirim. Simdi de 7 gercek icin sobelendim... sasirtici degil. :-)

Peki simdi ben birini sobelemeliyim... hmmm... tamam... Muzi'yi sectim!
